JIB / MAIN OUTHAUL SLIDE

What is an outhaul slide
A sliding bowsie installed on the jib or main boom which allows adjusting the outhaul tension of the jib / main sail quickly.

Parts required

  • five feet of cord
  • small bowsie for Jib boom
  • clew outhaul hook for head sail
  • large bowsie for main boom
  • clew outhaul hook for main sail
  • hook for main boom

How the outhaul slide works
To increase or decrease sail camber for different wind condition, slide the bowsie towards the stern to increase sail camber, towards the bow to decrease sail camber.

I have been sailing with the outhaul slide install on both jib and main boom and have found it to be a real convenience when making outhaul adjustments on the water for different wind condition.

Note: ( A jib / main outhaul slide parts kit is available through The Boat Store )
